Talking

Some members feel that their GSes (only forum I've seen this discussion on) have a little more grunt when driving in, shall we say, spirited fashion with it off, as if it were activating in very subtle fashion w/o lighting the VSC icon. Can't say I've noticed the same phenomenon (but that doesn't mean it ain't happening).

Also presumes dry conditions; pretty easy to induce oversteer, sometimes in startling amounts, in the GS in low-traction conditions.

GS430GUY wrecked his GS because the VSC was switched off. As a wise man once said "You can't defy the laws of physics"

As KayGee was so nice to point out I lost control of my car on a slightly wet road being a moron late a night as I was taking a turn and accelerating. I keep the VSC on all the time whenever there is any rain or snow that falls. I still drive with it off when I have my summer tires on in dry conditions, but turn it on when I am on the highway. Keep it on to be safe though, I should take my own advice .

I should have not called you out by name. My bad. My post should have referred to you as a cool a** dude from New York instead. I just want others to be aware of our past experiences (good or bad).

I always keep mine on unless I am getting ready to race someone, and I only race people when it is dry out.

Even though I like to drive like a lunatic from time to time, or perhaps BECAUSE I do, I leave it ON all the time.

Let me ask you KamGS430 - do you wear seat belts?

Keep it on my friend as I just received a ticket last night because I had a little fishy tail on the corner below 40 mph. They called it reckless driving. Time to change stock tires.

OFF, unless the roads are damp or wet.

Of course, the LSD helps quite a bit too, and a little rear end wiggle is fun to toy with.

i only suggest turn it off when you are fully concentrated on driving the car, coz' the gs tends to loose its back end quite easily

It's fine, I echo your sentiments as well. Better to have new members learn from our past experiences, then have them find out for themselves. Thanx for the kinds words. You're one cool a** dude from Georgia yourself

could be that i took my gs4 too far. i made couple of quite fast turns and corners and the rear end couldn't hold much, with vsc off the rear just slides out, with vsc on it kicks in and beep all the way through. that's with most of the suspension mods already of course

VSC exists to keep Lexus from being sued by drivers that crash as a result of overly aggressive driving (too fast for conditions). It also keeps your car dent-free as well, in case you happen to loose traction in a bad situation. It is better than even the most skilled driver because it can brake individual wheels to counter rotational momentum in a spin and bring the car back in line.

I once went into a freeway entrance (180 degree) too aggressively in the rain and the back end started to come loose. VSC saved my ***. I recommend you keep it on, unless you want to have some fun and are pretty sure about the road conditions you will encounter.

Most people don't get a lot of practice doing power slides on public roadways and I would be afraid to turn the thing off until I could confidently control the amount of the slide with the gas and the steering wheel, especially on wet or icy pavement.
