Damn, all those exact same light/indicators came on In my gs today for about 10 seconds. Everything seemed to be working fine. No loss of power on anything or car dying out. It went away after that 10 secnds, and its been fine since then. Could this be a totally different problem? Idk.... Pete (PeteGs300) how much did it cost to change that crank pulley? Just wanna know what im getting into. Boombastic, sorry if im jacking your thread.

RIKSGS808 - Was around the £300 mark but that was with a Lexus dealer doing the work so if you done it yourself or found a good Indy garage it would be a lot cheaper.

I dunno I'm all out of options, I'm gonna be taking it to a charging system specialist in my area and have it analyzed. All my symptoms point towards alt. just so I'm clear though, can the power steering have anything to so with it? Mine cuts in and out at low revs and makes the battery light go on sometimes. I'm wondering if the pump is seizing and slowing my system down, cause it appears to idle lower then normal. It's right between the mid mark and the 3/4 mark on the tach. Don't know what normal is for the gs300

Well after all the checking and re-checking, it ended up being my crank pulley which was pooched. Thanks for the tip Pete!

Default VSC LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON AND THEN OFF AFTER A COUPLE DAYS PROBLEM FOR ABOUT A yr.?

[F[B]ONT="Arial Black"] I "]have a LS460L,2008 and the VSC,engine light, skid light etc,,, keeps coming on ! I have changed the gas cap twice, and I have a new battery ie( from the dealer 13months old), and I have cleaned the battery posts and cables thoroughly.
My mechanic said, I need a pressure test for the gas tank as there is know vacuum when the gas cap is taken off so there is a leak somewhere. CAN ANYONE TELL ME HOW TO REMEDY THIS PROBLEM ? jjjham3@aol.com

Boombastic, did you ever resolve your issue with the battery, ABS, etc. lights and power steering? I am having a similar issue. I swapped the alternator with a remanufactured one and replaced the battery at the same time. Battery died, charged it up and had the system tested at Autozone. Result was a bad alternator so I bought another remanufactured one. Same thing happened, so this time I bought a brand new (not remanufactured) one. After driving for a few days, the power steering went out and the ABS an TRAC OFF lights came on. However, today there appears to be no issue. I took it to a mechanic who told me the aftermarket alternators don't work well for this car and I need to get an OEM one. I am curious to know what you did to resolve your problem.

He hasn't been on the forum in 3 years so don't hold your breath for an answer.

I noticed one night my battery light was flickering on and off, and I had a loss of power steering sometimes at very low speed. I continued to drive home and eventually all the warning lights listed above came on and my radio flickered on and off and dash lights went dim, wipers were really slow as well.

The next day after work I got home, started the car and everything was fine no lights. I let it run in my driveway for about 7-8 minutes where it eventually died. Took the battery out and tested it, everything is good there just low on a charge. So I assumed I had a bad Alt. I replaced that and the belt at the same time. I also managed to borrow a multi-meter to test the voltage of the system after I installed the new parts. Results aren't good, Alternator was producing a max of 11.5 volts with no load at idle, and as low as 10.6 volts with headlight/foglights and heater at full blast.

After reading up on the forum of other similar problems, I am wondering did I receive a "dud" alternator? It is a re-manufactured one, not brand new.

Any more insight or things to check is much appreciated, thanks.

Iv got a 2007 is250 and the same thing just happens to me on my way home from work, lost all power, was able to get home but when I finally did park it gave out. Had to wait like 15 min for it to finally turn back on. I have no idea what it can be or what I need to get tested on my car to find the problem. Any insight for me???

I have 2008 Lexus GS 350. Filled up my Tank at the Exxon Gas station last night with Premium Gas as always, and parked it as usual. Starts the car this morning and it runs for a about few seconds and the engine stops running, the fan was on and you can hear the sound coming out from the hood, a warning sign about brake failure flashed and went off, then Check VSC came up on the screen, VSC off and ABS but no check engine, and car won't start. Please, anyone knows what this issue could possibly be? I have checked the Gas Cap and it was intact, checked the parking brakes, checked the battery terminal and no corrosion. Pls, any help would be appreciated.

Default My battery light comes on and my heater button light for my IS 250 2008 comes on

My battery light comes on and heater for my IS 250 comes on then my power steering gets hard agtee a while.

My battery ran out then i detected a broken sensor.
i fixed it and the AbS light is now off.

I bought a new battery but the battery light is still on and heater comes on automatically when i start the car

what could be the problem.
could it be the alternator or charging system?
