depend's on whether there wheel's that are able to be widened.
most are not really able to be being forged alloy..... best bet is 2/3 piece rim's.

They usually replace the lip with a wider one on a 3pc wheel setup

If it's a multi pc wheel, you can source the pcs and build the new wheel. You can also widen the rear half on any wheel but you' ll have to see if the 'new' wheel will conflict with inner clearence on the car. Spacers can be utilized to help inner clearence pushing the wheel outwards so something to keep in mind for a final ET and where the wheel will sit in the end.

A VERY good place for widening is Weldcraftwheels. Top notch work so check em out G L

keep in mind the multipiece wheels doesn't necessarily mean they can be widened.. Some wheels like the Work Eurolines, are 2 pc welded. There are rivets, but the face is welded to the barrel/lip.

you'd have to chop off the face and reweld it to another barrel/lip combo

If you aren't using 2/3pc wheels with removable barrels, then the procedure involves putting the wheel on a bandsaw, hacking off the inner lip, welding on a strip with as much thickness as you want to add, and finally welding on the original lip back on to the strip.

You can also sometimes add width to the outside, but it's usually more complicated and involves some amount of cosmetic restoration afterward. Adding width to the inside is more typical and is what companies like WeldCraft are famous for.

You would need a 3pc set up to change the barrel. If you do get step lip. It comes out nicely.

Interesting, how do they get the inner and outer barrel to make an air-tight seal?
