SC300 exhaust interchangeable??

hey guys, I'm in the new marker for an exhaust. I havent decided yet on a full cat back or axle back. I did find axle back I like but the shop said it was for a SC300 but told me it also fits the GS300. I've never heard of anyone swapping a SC to GS or vice versa and I did a search but came up blank. I've compared the shape and changers and it does look very similar but I don't wanna take that chance on just a guess. Anyone here can back this up?

Not sure, but I tried swapping the exhaust on my 1st gen Gs onto my Sc and the flanges where lined up differently. I think thats the only difference. Check for the 2ng gen

Here's a comparison

^^ the ones in the SC photo the one on the left is the right muffler and the one on the right is the left muffler. They do look almost identical. The curve angle of the inlet pipe and the hanger position both look exactly the same but I'm not sold on the muffler length. I never heard anyone say theyre interchangeable except this sales rep. I never really trust sales reps sometimes Just cuz u never know if they just wanna sell you something.

guess the biggest question is what are you after in an exhaust? is it a deal that's to good to pass up? a perticular exhaust you really want?

Well I wasn't sure if i wanted a full cat-back or axle-back. Most of the cat-backs I found are these giant fart cans with 5-6in ridiculous tips and personally I hate that look. I mean performance wise I'm sure they might perform well, but I could care less about power (I know my car is slow. I don't need it loud and slow LOL). I wanted to keep it simple looking and the only cat-back I found that looked the cleanest without breaking the bank was Tanabe Medalion Touring. Nice double walled beveled angled tip, clean oval muffler (not straight tube style like most of the stuff out there). I like a lot of the Aimgain ones but those are about $1500 and up and thats just for the axel back.. Just wanna see what other options are out there.

have you looked for a tom's system? (this is a second hand one...)

id be interested to see how well that SC exhaust would fit... look's close, but the hanger would have to be modified to work with a GS.

I highly doubt they will be interchangeable, if they were exhaust manufactures would have already listed them as interchangeable, Why advertise 2 of the same things as different part numbers.

They look somewhat similar, looks like the inlet pipe on the GS has more angle to it. But I think it"s close enough to were a muffler shop could make it work with a couple of modifications

The only difference are the mounting flanges at the axles. They are at different angles. Have a muffler shop cut them off and weld them to line up with the rest of the exhaust pipe.

That's exactly what I was thinking. It was the first time I was told it was interchangeable which is why I raised an eyebrow. :uh:

One thing you can do is search the part # for both OEM parts and see if it's different. Or you can go to a parts store and have them do this since they usually have quite a few part interchange browsers. That helped me immensely during my days of owning a ka-t/ca18/sr20 powered 240sx lol
