Default Questions about buying a GS300

Hi everyone,

This is my first post here, because I am looking at a 2001 GS300. Here's my question: it's in absolute mint condition inside and out, but the rub is that it has 200,000 highway miles on it. But it runs absolutely beautiful, in addition to looking great too! They guy is asking $4,000 for it.

So I guess my question is this: am I looking at a 'money pit', with a line of expensive repairs, or is this going to be a decent car yet for a few years? He replaced the timing belt at 125,000, so I know I am due for that. Other than that, I'm excited to get this thing!

Thanks for any input!

Well, if it made it to 200k, it is most definitely not a lemon, so you don't have to worry about that. Get a list of what he replaced, and get an idea of what stuff will break soon. Expect to be getting o2 sensors, Lexus eats through those like candy. IMO, I wouldn't pay more than 3500 for a Lexus GS300 with 200k, GS400 maybe because it has a V8. GL!

I'd see what all its had done as far as maintenance. If taken good care of and maintained, the motor will last 300k +

The only chronic thing with GS seems to be front suspension, but new parts fix that. If it is as good as you say and even with another $2000 in maintenance, for $6K you've got a beautiful, reliable luxury ride. Or you can spend that $4K on a 8-10 year old Civic?
