Default starting issue 99 GS400

Won't start sometimes in park. Tried neutral and that worked sometimes, but not always. Read it could be neutral safety switch, and so did that, but that didn't work today. Neutral safety switch or something else?

Rock auto is a good place to get a starter. It's real easy to swap out. 2 hours max.

Uh.... What? Have you tried the starter on the 1UZ V8? The whole intake manifold has to come off. It's easily a 6-hour job. Not necessarily complex, but lots of stuff to take apart.

And it took 4 1/2 hours to remove, rebuild and put back together
