I used new bolts but oem ones are just as good. gaskets are definitely going to have to be new. if you want cheap bolts go to autozone. Take one of your oem bolts and compare them to theirs.

I was told by a friend that using cheap bolts have repercussions such as leaks, melting into the car, etc. is this true?

yeah just mad cause i had the car on jackstands and everything was going well took four bolts and realized nuts were welded on.

my question is is this also true for the midpipes? or the nuts actually separated for those. do we need washers in between?

I think all the bolts are welded on and no washers needed just gaskets in between the pipes.

Yah just nuts. You can use your oem bolts or just buy new ones so you have no problems.
