Still running this same issue. Any other ideas? I am now averaging 19.3 and I drive approx alot. El Dorado Hills to Elk Grove 4 days a week and to SJ and back 1x a week. Roughly - 500 miles weekly.... That 2-4 mpg is noticable when I have to visit the gas station as much as I do... thats roughly 32 miles on the low side and as high as 64 miles..... Around town is alot worse, its like 14.7 if I stay in town only.... To me that's horrible and I do not abuse my GS either.... Pretty much baby it except to pass or get on onramps...

I did the Seafoam thing as well, nothing has changed.

HELP

Default Oil viscosity, use thinner oil.

For a V8 with that kind of mpg is not bad at all. My inline six is only getting 17 mpg combined. And I get less thrill with more noise.

I keep a religious record of every gas fill (date, miles, how many gallons, how much, mpg, and where) and 2-3mpg loss could be something.

I start to notice my mpg randomly go down and a week or two later, check engine light came on and it was the downstream o2 sensor.

But before doing anything big, check the things everyone mentioned... like tire pressure. or even dead hookers in trunk. also keep in mind its winter so air is colder (at least its freezing ***** in chicago).

I know some are saying me at 19mpg is still good, but when I'm used to almost 22mpg, and nothing has changed, it does cause concern. When I drive as much as I do, that extra 3 mpg is almost another 50 miles... which to me is alot....

On stock 17's tire pressure should be 32psi correct? I am at 32 all around. I run the STP fuel system cleaner in the car now every 3-5k miles, and I have never done the sea foam thing as I have read about it before and read the controversy.... But I'm open to it. I know I drive alot more than the normal so doing everything I can to maintain my GS is very important to me.

Are there ways to clean the injectors myself, better than like the STP fuel additive? Like I said I'm open to all suggestions...

On a typical fill up and drive to the Bay Area I used to avg 24.6 on that drive without much traffic on 50/80/680/280 freeways and last couple trips it is 20.4... Same drive, same drive time, just did it this AM filled up the car n got on the road....

Do they have winter blends for gasoline in Sacramento? Did this drop occur when the gas stations switched to winter blends?

The date of your first post seems to coincide

Hey guys,

Ive done all the routine stuff clean MAF, throttle body, replace air filter, change plugs, ran the fuel system cleaner even done the seafoam treatment n nothing has changed or improved it.... I agree I think it's something. I also keep meticulous records of mpg, oil change dates mileages, tuneups etc. if I never got 21-23 avg then the 19 wouldn't be a problem. But part of why I bought this car was my last GS got 22 too remember guys I have a 68 Camaro that ran consistent 9.70's. This is my commuter car, I drive it normal not really on it much normal driving.....

It could be a worn out o2 sensor or partially clogged catalytic converter. How many miles are on them?

try some injector cleaner for the gas...or try E=0 (ethanol free) gas.

I doubt there is any in Cali but you can look here:

http://pure-gas.org/

While you are at it sign the petition to keep ethanol free gas stations
