air suspension without air tank
 

im gonna b getting air suspension soon n wanted to kno if its possible instead of havin a air tank in the back of my trunk maybe run it to either the ac or power steering i seen this done on my buddys toyota ttruck thanks

you mean run a belt driven compressor from your engine? you'd have to attach it to the engine... the amount of work u spend there u might as well spend in your trunk.

Exactly not to mention the stress its going to put on the engine since the compressor will basically be running at all times.

if there was something easy i would have gone the belt driven route. it only engages when necessary and pumps way fast than the electric compressors.

wait time would suck. gotta let the engines drive it.
or u can use air tanks with air already in them. like nitrogen tanks

not necessarily . It has a clutch (just like an a/c compressor) only used when needed.

OP Id recommend at least a 2 or 1 gallon tank. You can find LOTS of places to hid it under the body somewhere. With that 1 or 2 gallons, at least it will have SOME reserve to get her up a bit faster. If not, its gonna take at least 5 to 10 minutes to get her up. Now this all depends on your application. If you 're gonna be like the most of us [drive low, park lower] thats where you're gonna have an issue. However, if you just want it for leveling (like Lincolns come stock) then a strong compressor will do.

If you have the $$, go for an Oasis compressor. It's strong enough to run air tools straight from t he compressor ;p so I'm sure lift time would be remarkable.

as for a belt driven compressor. Well, your buddy's truck is supported for that type of compressor (no hes not running it to power steering or a/c, thats just retarded) they make those for trucks all day long. To get a unit like that on our cars, you're gonna have to get one of those, then make a custom bracket to hold it onto our engines and use it that way, cause they dont make it for our cars. I've looked in to this, it has to be custom fabricated... but it can be done.

engine mounted compressors are retarded fast compared to the electric ones.. but ide still go with electric. I want to get an OB2 compressor now since they are a lot more efficient than the Viar poop :(

To answer your question it is possible. You can also run an electric compressor without the air tank. There was a white sc300 for sale a little while ago who did that

like others said, its possible but not worth the hassle. if your big concern is space the tank will take up you could run a smaller tank or get a pancake tank.

Again, all depends on your application and reason for it.

Lincolns (and I'm sure many others) run 4 airbags with only compressor. Even " Ride-Rite Air Helper" kits are only a compressor and bags set up.
