Smile Broke 30 mpg in my GS400

Took a short trip to chicago and back, 80 mph on the way, some idling, ac on, some city driving and a slow 65-70 the ride home. 30.43 mpg. 222.2 miles and could only stuff in 7.3 gallons in at the end of the trip.

Yea!

I had another trip a month ago or so that got 29.4 keeping a cool 70 the whole trip.

And the trip at 80 mph was in 95f temps....

Just reasonable driving despite the speeds.... Wish i could make it hybrid!

Stock, wix air filter, synthetic, ngk copper plugs, 162000 miles....

Probably a tail wind also, how accurate is your speed/ odometer? Do you have standard diameter wheels?

I have to correct for speedo error, but gps is my speed correction guide. So it is very close. Stock 16's. Was a round trip, winds were mild all day, so minimal wind effect..

I switched to 5w20 and for the first tank or my daily drive to work and back I am up 3-3.5 mpg. Second tank is showing similar results so far. 141 miles and only down to 3/4 tank. It is a stuffed tank but rarely have it ever seen more than 125 @ 3/4 tank.

Got 321 miles, 12 gal. City highway driving.

I am driving careful, but passing is still WOT....

Nice not having AC on, and the 5w20 is nicely thin at cold start.

I can believe it. I use to get 30 mpg on my trip from socal to las vegas, with the AC on in 90 degrees. Of course I was just a tad below speed limit. The V8 can get great gas mileage on the highway as long as you can control your right foot.

I know I got 30 MPG on my 93 LS. I never really tallied the MPG on the GS doing the " fill up then drive then refill and calculate" method with my car. Can't wait to see how it comes along when I do.

Wow, impressive. I got 26mpg (US) on a trip where I cruised at 80mph. When I pushed it to 90mph on the return trip mileage went down to 21mpg.
