Parasitic load test.
Buddy brought me his 2001 GS 430 with a dead battery after sitting a day or two.
I charged and tested battery, which this was the second one, and it was charged. Parasitic load shows .48 amp draw. Key out doors closed all accessories off. They had installed an alternator also to resolve the dead battery issue.
I removed the Alt-S fuse and the draw was gone. As far as I can see in the wiring diagrams that wire only goes from battery through a 5 amp fuse and to the voltage regulator in the alternator. My fear is that I have not found the cause of the draw. I don’t know the system that well but I’m afraid of doing pointless work. He wants me to install a used alternator from the scrap yard. I’m not excited at the prospect.
Is there anything that I missed in my diagnostics?
