Default 2001 GS430 - Should I buy it?

I have been looking at GSs since I didnt want to drop $15k on a SC. I found one I like. 2001 GS430, green with tan interior. 102,000 miles. Just had its 100k mile service, though not at a dealership. He has it at $7700 but with the rear door locks not working. He says its the actuators (sp?). Is this a good price for it? No mods, but seemingly good condition for a 2001. Thoughts? Thanks in advance.

tell him you got a quote at a shop to fix the rear door locks for about 1000, since thats what shops usually charge although its an inexpensive fix and I'm sure a member can help you out. Then shoot for 6.7k!

Pictures would help! But for the year and mileage I think it's a good price, if it's not salvage and body and frame are straight My GS 430 runs like a champ at 100k miles

Looks good for the price.

Looks like a grey interior to me.

any owner who leaves their seat belt like this do not truly love their car.

i'm very OCD when it comes to leaving the seatbelt like this. What is it really to pull it straight?

overall looks OK.

If you like it buy it. What if we all said no, but you really like the car. Are you going to let a bunch of people over the e-net you don't know, influence you not to buy it? that's a good price for the year and mileage. I would pass because of the interior being in bad condition (for my standard) and the ugly green color.

Also a 430 without wood wheel is awful too. Guess they started that in 02

i think the price is decent. tell him its 1g to fix the rear doors and offer to split the cost by offering 7200 (it will actually cost you about 25 to fix both and have extra motors for the front doors for later). make sure the ball joints and tie rods are decent. also check the rear upper control arm ball joints (rear upper arms are around 600 each).

For that price, its definitely a decent deal. Use the fixes against him to drop the price a tadbit more.

I agree with trying to talk him down some more! Looks ok for the price though. Giving the upper ball joints a tap with your palm will tell you if they are loose or not! It will sound like a "ting" instead of a "thud", depending on how worn they are and if they are. Those upper control arms do get pricey!!!

I have the rear left door lock actuator waiting for you if you decide to jump on this.

Good condition for a 2001? I'll have to disagree with that.
