custom cluster? tired of seeing that green color
#17
Hey guys,
We are working on custom LED lighting for the 2nd generation GS guys. The only issue is that the needles are orange plastic on top and they are not directly lit. They are lit by the same lighting that lights the gauge face.
With that said, here are some pictures.
We can also do some other less popular colors - warm white, purple/pink, etc.

Search button is a great tool as well as google. Read this posting and you will find out how to do it SAFELY without changing/converting bulbs. It's a "faceplate" they used to change the colors as LuxuryGS3 has posted.

Oh yea, read it carefully as people "assumed" he changed the bulbs and what not... CHEAP DIY mod!
TaninAuto, not to bust your bubbles but do you have pics of the gauge overview "naked" that shows the LED conversion because shooting it up close like that looks like you used a color faceplate, (backgrounds behind the cluster changes colors with each colors you changed it to), yet stated in your comment that you're "working" on changing it to the LED with those pics. The link I have provided does show how bright it is when the gauge is "naked" which is the white a couple of members are seeking. Please advise.

Is the tube green or the face? i know on 3000gt the face is orange and you need to sand the back side so the light goes through be while. if this is same for the gs then sanding the back of the gauge face should turn them in to white color.

How progressive is the dimmer? As dimmer control was an issue with previous attempts at doing this with leds. And hopefully those hotspots will be eliminated before selling these as an actual product as well.
You'll sell alot of these if you get those two issues worked out.

Granted they are obviously not crisp intense led white, but if you just hate the green there is a oem swap option too.

^ Not buying that one.
I think some of us are getting fooled by the ambient lighting. In some instances the gauges will glow lighter giving a white appearance but still holds a green tint to it. In that thread there's guys owning 98's saying they have white gauges and some with a 02 saying the same. Doesn't make sense. I highly doubt Lexus would just randomly throw white gauges in one car and green in the other. If it was a certain kind of model that Lexus intended on holding a distinction to the other models (i.e. SD) then that would make sense. But in reality, I think we all have green gauges.

+1, there is a significant variation in the gauges, some are more blue-ish colored and some are more white. Most are the more common green tinted.
