Literally just did this yesterday, got offered a job at Radioshack in the process. Lmfao. Definitely worth it my dude. Took me like an hour though, never really soldered anything before, I had to go out and buy a little gun, but they sell em at Radioshack for like $10.

I'm loving the sound quality, sounds AMAZINGLY better than any cassette to aux adapter.

Definitely a mod to do if you haven't upgraded your deck. Thumbs up!

Hey thanks for this post! definitely doing this because I have been using the radio scanner thing that you plug into your cigarette lighter, but it almost always sounds faded and I have to constantly change stations to look for a more clear one.

Probably a dumb question, but should I disconnect the battery while doing this?

Yea this mod is the shiet! Especially for those who don't want to spend a grip just to install an aux. The Hanson Bros. never sounded this good in my GS!

Finally, I was able to do this mod. First off, I was under the impression that I was supposed to hook up to the harness directly coming from the back of the cd changer. That is what I did the first time and it did not work. So I went at it again today to try and figure out where I went wrong. I followed the harness coming from the cd changer to a box that looks to me like a converter. The output of the converter? goes to a connector and connects to another harness. That is where I hooked up to the red, green, black, and white. I did an optest using a regular cd and it worked fine. The funny this is there's no two sets of music, just my ipod. I did have the error message showing on the radio display. I switched the regular cd to a burnt cd(data format). I was still able to play the ipod except this time no error message.

Just record one track as silent and put the cd on repeat. Or you can do what I did. Put a tape inthe cassete player that is one of the tapes you use to play the iPod but remove the head out of the tape, then you just play the silent tape

Great write up!!! I'm definitely going to try this...However, since I never solder anything in my life, can I use wire tap-in connectors to add the wires together?

^^^no you need to solder the speaker wires onto the jack that you buy from radio shack. From there you can use a tap to connect it to the cd changer harness

you can also just flip the cd over and put it back in the magazine. It will show an error message, but it works fine. No need to burn a silent cd
