Default "Check Connection of Air Conditioner"

I have a 2001 GS 300 w/NAv and this is the error I get when I press the 'Climate' button. Any ideas what might be causing it?

Can you take a picture of that old one and tell us where it's located? It would help others alot.

The $888 was for the dealer to troubleshoot and fix the problem. The part is located behind the steering wheel somewhere.
