Question Hot Gs4

Anybody have heat comming from under the dash while driving ? I usually wear shorts and notice there is a decent amount of heat comming from under the dash plus I drive pretty aggressive. Is this normal ? Thanks for any responses !

Cosm, under the steering wheel, you will see an AC/Heat vent (like on the dash) that is adjustable, I am sure that is what your feeling...

It gives your "boyz" in shorts a nice breeze of fresh air

Maybe you bought a LEMON... That happens sometimes when you buy off Ebay....

it doesn't blow hot air just seems like it is comming from there. Is there a firewall hole anywhere near there ? Or maybe normal heat from engine ?

I have the same problem in my GS, but it seems to come and go. If you find out what it is, let me know.

I have noticed that same phenomenon come and go in my GS. There was actually a thread here last month discussing just that. I've tried fiddling with the Recirc/Fresh air, before/after turning the A/C on/off, all sorts of combination but when it's there, can't get rid of it until you turn on the A/C. Then, the hot air disappears completely and instantly. The feeling is more of a radiant heat rather than a forced air emanating just below the steering wheel at the same level as the stereo. I thought it was the stereo or the NAV but the stereo/NAV couldn't be that hot!! I was driving one cold night with the windows open and I could feel the heat from the front enveloping my lower torso. The vent was at recirculate mode and set to blow air only through the top air vents. Just to experiment, I turned on just the fan, A/C compressor off, and felt room temp air blowing from the vent but still, the feeling of hot air in front of me. I changed to fresh air mode but the heat still kept its presence even as the vents pumped cold air from the outside. The heat only stopped as soon as the A/C switch was turned on. Even with the A/C at 75 degrees setting, the heat disappeared that cold night. Cold night is 65 degrees outside.

Default Heat

It might be engine heat. I have felt that. You might what to check the vent settings like someone said. But, the engine heat can creep through the firewall.

I believe it is the engine heat immitting through the firewall, I don't feel it when the A/C is on , I guess it is normal as others are having the same problem.

I think I have seen the solution to this weird issue. When you feel that "heat" as you are driving, try doing this because it seemed to work for me and I was able to duplicate it several times. Turn on the A/C, and then manually turn off the A/C compressor with fan still blowing, and then turn off the fan. It has to be in that order.

In my situation, the heat is felt when the fan is off. So, it's not the other way around.

The heat does not come from any of the vents. Isn't it weird?
