Arrow New, need a drop!

Heyy CL! got my GS3 2nd gen about a year ago, and have started the mods recently.

-Got 18" rim (i know theyr too small but since its daily driven it suits me)

-i hav 245/45 dunlop all around (hell yeah looks like a 4x4) )

- im getting new tires later this week but confused on which size. did alot of research over here but you guys hav all 19's and 20's (jealous much)

-So, would 225/35l18 be a better option or 245/35/18? (keep in mind the petrol consumption please)

-oh and also should i drop it using tanabe df or eibachs? whichever has a better ride quality.

Will be posting pics soon just got my baby waxed today, and oh decided to go in a completely new direction got Hamann rims for my GS

Please guys keep in mind ive done a lot of research before starting this thread, was confused

I would go with a 40 profile; no need for 35 since you're running 18s. You didn't give width so I cant tell you how wide to go.. I ran 225/40 when I had 18s.

I am running 225/50/17's all around on my gs3. I have a nice comfortable ride unlike when I had my 19's. I wouldn't go below a 40 series sidewall. 45 series would be the closest to the stock diameter. I have learned to appreciate that extra sidewall in my older age. I am getting ready to drop it on nf210's with a figs 17mm rca up front when I get back home. Just to give you an idea...

@lunatyk: yeah i thought the same too. . .would go for 225/40 all around and drop the car abit. Its 18x8.5 in front and 18x9 in rear. 225's should be fine i believe?

@850 lexus: Yes a drop is good and your good to go!

@Neo:
Its 18x8.5 in front and 18x9 in rear, not sure bout the offset will let you no later tonight!

I agree, with 40 or 45 you should be straight. I don't mean to jack your thread, but I wanted to ask 850Lexus...is that your DSM?

Unless you have crazy offsets, I'd stay with 245/40 fronts and 255/40 rear. I actually am not sure why you went with staggered rims so close in specs. Personally, depending on offsets, I would have stayed with one of those sizes all around, the safest being 18x8.5.

If you went with at least 18x9.5 in the rear, you could run 265 or even 275.

Neo bro, i did some more research and found a 2gs with 225/40/18 all around

even tho he has lips of 9 and 10" front and back respectively, and crazy offsets, mine r somewhere between 8.5-9.5 w/o any lip.
so i believe i should finalize with 225/40/18 drop it abit (not very low, like the gs above) and post pics soon?

Lips really do not matter. That is a wheel style. Are you saying your offsets are about +9? If so, then yes, you will find you need to stretch the tires (and fender mod and neg camber). Otherwise, I would not choose to run smaller than OEM diameter and thinner sidewalls (with 225s) if I did not have to. That's just me.

the oem diameter it 26.16 and for 225's it will be 25.09. will a inch hurt much? like if i use 225's and drop it just abit, should work fine right no issues? (will do fender mods if required) apart from the visual stuff that is. technically should be possible?? (sorry not sure bout the offset YET )

Fit-wise, it will be easier with the 225. The issues would be somewhat non-fit related:

- Odometer and speedometer will be off a bit.
- Thinner sidewalls = less wheel protection as well as reduced driving comfort
- Fender gap is increased needing more drop.
- More drop = more change in suspension geometry.

Like I said earlier, there are cases that need to go thinner to make the wheels fit. Although I am not a fan of that look, especially for daily driving, I give props to the people that do like it and do what they need to make things work. If I can make things work within OEM wheel specs, I normally prefer to do it that way.

-Im aware of the odometer and speedometer changes, but thats not a huge problem with me.
-Thinner sidewallsis exaclty what im looking for. since im running on 245/45's now, and i dont like the look of it at all.
-for sure will drop it otherwise it will look sluggish.
-What do you mean by suspension geometry tho? il be going for tanabe/eibachs, whichever is available easily out here, anything else will i hav to change?
