Mirrors - other generation alternative?
Just purchased a 2002 GS 300 with a broken PS mirror outer shell and motor not working. Did not expect the cost to be so high to replace. In looking around only the 2nd gen are real expensive. Can you swap in a 1st or 3rd gen mirror assembly without too many issues? Or can someone tell me if the motors for the side to side movement are fixable\replaceable? The up and down works.
Then I would just buy the case and repair the motor. Just bought car so funds are little low for new mirrors have other items to fix as well (timing belt, water pump replaced using DIY from this site, thanks , door lock actuator motors ordered) |
what part of tn you in?
if u wait till this GB is over, someone should have the outer shell for sale for a cheap price and in your color if your lucky https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...or-covers.html AS for the motor, i have a 1998-2000 mirror outer/inner shell you can have but they wont "fit" the 2002 although the motor MIGHT work |
Thanks for the info on group buy. I may get in on it. Price looks good until you add paint.
I tried to look up the motors for the mirror but did not find them on http://www.*******.com I live in Collierville. |
ahhh so u r local to me....im in memphis (well bartlett area) PM me and we can meet up, i like meeting local members
well if u want OEM just ask one of those guys to sell you their old housing if not just get the ones from David (CLT) |
Still looking for a passenger side mirror. Cover does not really solve my issue as motor is out on mirror as well
Thought found one on Craigslist but guy did not come through. Seems second gen 2002 mirrors are more than I wanted to pay. Question will first gen mirror physically fit as there is a left and right on Ebay that would set me back less than $100? |
i told you george you could have the old housing i have that has a motor in it to see if you could wire that up....
its free IF not try aliga, rgw llc, and chin and ask them if they have one |
Placed order with CLT, looking forward to getting this piece in place and then it will seem like the recent purchase will be good. :D
