shouldn't you be able to use a standard OBD2 scanner if the swap was wired up correctly?

I started a thread in the performance section about this a couple weeks ago. The Aristo ECU uses the JOBD protocol, and requires a JOBD scanner to actually pull a code. The video above shows counting mil's like an OBD1 car does, but a proper JOBD scanner can display actual codes and realtime sensor information like OBD2 does.

I'm having trouble locating realworld information about the options. There are some scanners on ebay such as the Launch series that say JOBD in the description, but I've seen a couple threads on various jdm vehicle forums where the scanner was tried but didn't work.

Read my other thread for details on using the Blitz or Greddy scanners.

No, the Aristo ECU is not OBD2 compliant. The wiring is not the issue.

I think you'll need to take a japanese trip to find one of those scan tools.

I purchased a Launch Creader V scanner (JOBD compatible according to website) and I received it today but it didn't work. When I tried to pull a code it said communication error. So I'm returning the scanner back to the company I purchased it from

One of the threads I read on another toyota forum mentioned when selecting a vehicle to scan it didn't work under toyota, but when they selected honda it connected and worked. Not sure which model of launch it was as there are a couple. Is there a model selection on yours?

Nope the scanner does not have a vehicle selection.
