Default steering wheel compatiablity 01 gs300 98 gs400 e shift

Before I get flamed (saktaj)
I searched I found that I can switch out the inside airbag ok
Im trying to buy the steering wheel in the classfieds
now my question is if the 01 gs300 has e shift and my gs400 has e shift
is it plug and play? or what do i have to do splice wires or will it even work.

They have different part numbers between gs300 and gs400 even gs430 but that doesnt mean they wont plug and play
The image breakdown is the same between the 2 with the same PNC numbers as well.

Yes, plug and play. I just swapped out my tan 98 GS400 w/eshift wheel and bag for a black 02 GS300 w/eshift. Once I got the old wheel off, no trivial task in my case, the black one went on easy as pie. 2 plugs and a 19mm nut.

Almost forgot the 2 hex screws. to get the bag off.

Does the 02 have wood on the steering wheel?

I don't remember the specifics, but I'm pretty sure the 03-05 430 came with the wood wheel. Maybe the 02s did also. As for the 300s, I'm not sure. I think it was an option. Can't say that I've ever seen a non-SportDesign wood wheel with e-shift.

The 02 wheel I got for my black conversion is a mix of smooth & perforated leather w/eshift. I'm trying to get away from the wood, so I'm very happy. Some time this summer I'll be doing a real carbon fiber wrap on the rest of the wood in the car. I like the wood, but I'm just wanting sport things up a bit. IMHO, wood and sportiness are somewhat mutually exclusive.
