I am going to pose this here:

Is there a rule of thumb for max tire width vs rim width?
I have the OEM chrome 7 spokes. They are 8 inches.
235s are on now.
I do not want anything crazy, just wondering if there was a max I could go before I have to worry about spacers n ****.

No rule of thumb just plain Physics, go online and see what tire width is recommended for what wheel width

you can go as wide as the wheel width allows maybe one plus size, if you do this = No problem on OEMs

Minimum and maximum recommended wheel widths are in each tire's spec sheets.
