maybe i worded it wrong. all the acura needed in its life was the belt and cv's along with plugs (which are alot cheaper) and other BASIC maint.
i don't abuse any of my cars. you say you have had only a few MAJOR problems? sounds like a few too many to me....
i was simply showing how expensive even the preventative maint. can be on these cars. i didn't need to replace all of the sensors, one was bad, but they all tested differently so i did. i have always preached the reliability of toyota and honda, as they have all lasted me a long time but this has been by far, the biggest money pit. too bad because i love to drive it.
p.s. the brake pedal will slowly creep to the floor at a stop light.master cyl.?

well thats completely different than you NEVER put a timing belt on....

major to me was my nav ecu frying out (replaced for $400) and my power steering pulley sheering the pulley (replaced for $150) and yes the one issue i caused i WAS abusing mine and broke my TT differential (replaced with oem gs430 diff for $400) so those ate my "major" issues and they arent to major

i see u edited yours to remove your question if i was abusing mine but i had already quoted you its no biggie....yes, i was abusing mine and i paid for it and dont do it anymore

Here's a great thread to look at

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...00k-miles.html

Honestly you just need to find the best deal YOU can find, balance out price vs mileage.. I mean personally i start out looking for low mileage cars, I've had Lex's with 245k that have ran better then Lexs i've had with 120k It really depends who has owned them.

I would say with proper maintenace any GS should be capable of 300k with no probs..

Even though i prefer low mileage like everyone else, if i find a higly well maintained Lexus with records of maintenance I will jump on a higher mileage car if it has no issues.

Personally if there was a 01 GS430 with 105k for 11k

and a 01 GS430 with 205k for 5,500

and you drove identical, exterior/interior was just as clean on both. And it had some kind of maintenance records.

I personally would jump on the higher mileage one myself..

Carfax the title. Get all the maintenance records on the car.

Most of all, do your due diligence maintenance research. It will save you bundles.

I'd also take it to a mechanic you can trust and have them do a once over. Yea it may cost you 80-120 bucks but sure beats buying a $8K paper weight.
