Default How to replace bulb in center brake light?

I searched - but couldn't find a post.
A bulb is out on the center brake light thats inside the cabin at the base of the rear window.

Can't figure out how to get at it.

Many thanks

Hold the housing and move it to the left or right. Can't remember which way exactly, but do that and then pull it towards you. It should come out with ease.

Good God - What kind of idiots are on these forums!
Like, slide the housing over, disconnect the housing, and replace the bulb!

Takes what, 30 seconds?

Good God!

Thanks !

Thanks - I did search!
Brake light / tail light / center light / etc.

Didn't try "High mount stop light bulb"

I did get it all fixed and got rid of the warning light on my dash that's been annoying me for the last month or so.

BTW - the regular auto parts stores, Kragen, AutoZone, etc. were quoting $4.99 for a package of two bulbs. My LEXUS dealer (LEXUS of Stevens Creek in Santa Clara) had them for something like $1.08 each and the parts manager just handed over the three I needed for no money.

Thanks again - can't believe I wasted my 100th post on something this silly - but it sure is nice not to have any warning lights on !

no prob, mine is on right now as well due to one of my high mount lights being out, i'm trying to decide if i want to do LED's or not, i've got led taillights and wanting it all to look uniform.

BTW, i didn't search for high mount stop light bulb either, i think i searched third brake light, or center brake or something..

that thread was just on like page 3 or something...

Default Break light 2005 sc430

Hi everyone, I think I've read every instruction on how to get at a break light bulb, but I'm having some difficulty so just want to be sure.

The bolt that needs to be removed is the one under the round, quarter-size, black rubber cap. It has a little star shape rather than a phillips or standard head. I actually even have a screw driver that fits that shape, but for the life of me, I can NOT get that thing to budge.

I feel like I'm trying to unscrew a fixed object or the wrong thing as it simply will not move.

Before trying more drastic means of brute force, I want to make sure I've not mis-read all your fantastic instructions!

Thanks so much!

Slide the 3rd bake light unit towards the passenger side...pull out unit a few inches....disconnect the plug, then replace the bulb.

Smile Brake Light Replacement SC430

Instructions to replace brake light or rear light in 2005 IS430. 1) open trunk. 2) locate black plastic plug cover directly next to the light assemble 3) remove plug with flat head screw driver 4) a phillips screw becomes visible. 5) unscrew phillips screw. 6) grasp the entire rear light assembly and pull "straight" out. Do not pull up or down. Viola

Wish it was just my bulbs that were out... somethings wrong with my electrical wiring. I had an OEM rear spoiler that I removed and replaced with the in cabin mount, but 2 bulbs don't work. Switched out new bulbs and even the actual unit, but the same 2 bulbs don't get any power to them.
