Default broke ABS/VSC sensor on suspension install, DIY threads have no more pics :(

Hey guys, just swapped out my Stance coils and put back the OEM suspension for the winter and it seems like I broke the Front Left (driver side) ABS sensor. It visually still looks good so I'm assuming the wire inside broke.

I read a few posts but the links to the pictures have been taken off.

Here are the 2 threads that had pictures, but no more.

If someone can post some pics for the DIY ABS sensor fix, it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

the whole wire assembly consist of 2 wires really. just open it up and re solder them to fix the break.

does the break in the wire happen inside the black little box, which is connected to the end-link attached to the control arm?

Anyone??????

Is it the black thick wire that attaches to the hub of the front driver side? I looked and tugged it lightly and nothing seems to be broken at that point. was feeling along the lines but the rubber is so thick I couldn't feel any soft spots.

it can, but it doesn't have to. its just a wire, it can rip anywhere

dude just get a meter and check the wiring for continuity

Sakataj is correct. i believe you unplug the sensor and take a meter switched to Ohm(resistance) and take a reading at the plug to the sensor. it should read between 1.6-1.75k ohms. I may be mistaken but there is a couple threads on this.

u gotta cut it open to expose the 2 wires... god knows where the break is.

Yes, you will have to cut open the rubber insulation to get to the wires like "Vwynn" said. Mine broke right at the sensor and it was a pain to fix.

Usually if you tug on it(doing suspension, brakes, etc) and break the cable, 90% of the time the wire will be broken right at the sensor head. It's a pain to fix this because you have to cut the head of the sensor off and resolder the wires directly to it. Some guys have sent their sensors to me because they couldn't get to the wires in the head of the sensor. Just be careful if you try to repair it that you don't cut into the magnetic pickup in the sensor or else you will destroy the sensor beyond repair. They cost $220 or so from the dealer so be careful with where you cut into the head.

i'll inspect it further to make sure I don't see any breaks in the wire again and take off the fender liner to make sure the plugs are good there.

I wish I could send it to Jeff, but I live in Canada. Would it be bad to drive without the ABS sensor there? Would dirt and stuff get into the sensor position and mess things within the hub?

This is what the ABS sensor looks like on the Hub right? (This isn't a GS300, just searched a random picture which happens to be an MR2) Do I need to take out the entire sensor to cut it, or just doing it from the top while the sensor is still in place ok? I don't want to ruin the sensor if it's rusted/stuck in place.

Take everything out. You can unplug it from behind the fender liner. Make sure that you unbolt it from the body of the car as well.

Ok, so I got the entire wire out and the ABS sensor as well.

Measured it and it read 0.

So I assumed the break would be near the sensor so I cut it open near the head of the sensor (not the actual sensor, just before it. I only saw a white and black wire) and the white wire was snapped off/stretched.

Soldered it back up, no liquid electrical tape near my house so I used a glue gun as an insulator and then wrapped the outside in electrical tape.

Tested it, read 1.68-ish olms. Pretty close so good.

Put it all back together and started the car, drove it for about 5min. Lights still on.

Disconnected the battery for 20min to refresh the memory, still lights are on.

What is the problem? 2 days ago I went to my mechanic to read the code and it said LF ABS sensor faulty and no other sides put out a code.
