Default Need serious help!!!!!!!!!

My 98 GS300 vsc lights and check engine light popped on at the same time. Now the car is overheating. ANY idea as to why all at once?

Honestly... You should bring it to a mechanic in that condition.

No offense but a Mechanic or Lexus is your best bet since you have no idea where to begin plus the little info you have provided.

Could be a coolant temp sensor problem, really need to get a code to start the dialogue for concrete answers-pull into any autozone and ask them to pull the codes for you

I had a similar problem on my 03 gs430.. except for the overheating.. the lights would come on and go off, on and off.. kinda randomly until one day they just stayed on and my engine was misfiring.. ODBII scan read misfiring in cylinder#2.. I decided the easiest first step would be to take off the ignition coil and switch it with another cylinder to see if my problem would jump to a different cylinder (that would tell me the coil was the problem and its around $90) or if it still said cylinder#2, bad plug.. well when i switched cylinders and hooked the battery back up, it ran fine and no lights came on.. ran ODBII once more for confirmation and no problems.. So I figured it was just a loose connection.. now a couple days ago, and about 4 months have gone by, it started again.. ODBII says same cylinder, so just going to replace wires and plugs since I am getting close to 150,000 anyways.. I am by no means a professional, but gas engines are gas engines (aside from new sensors, computers, and fuel inj. vs. carb., etc..) and its not difficult at all to fix these minor things with basic tools and the wonderful power of the internet.. those that run off to a dealer with these minor issues are either A. Lazy B. Stupid C. A woman that should have married a real man, or a man that should have been a woman OR D. All of the above
