Default Check Engine light

Hey Guys,

After driving in to work today. I went back to my car an hour later and the check engine light came on. I know i need to plug a CPU in to it to get the code. My GS300 has about 136000 miles on it, do you guys know of any common codes comming up?

After i get the CPU plugged in I'll let you guys know what code comes up.

Had it plugged into an OBDii and the result code is P0446. Ive been searching to find out what it is and there seems to be a few things it could be. Is it dangerous to the car if i keep driving wit hit on? I want to get it looked at but i have to find out what i could be. Anyone else with a 2JZ-GE with the same issue?

Pop your hood and visually check all your hoses.

Check that out. There is a ton of hoses to check but I'll go out and check again.

the exact description is
P0446
EVAP Emission Control System Vent Control Malfunction

I checked all the hoses and they seem to be fine. I took out the gas cap, cleaned it then put it back on and cleared the code. Now i have to see if it comes back. hope it doesn't but if it does i might have to take it in and get the canister replaced.

Check to see if te vent is clogged. The canister is above the differential. The vent hose is the one with a hose opened, sticking out.

Best and only way to check the whole system (and should be the first thing) is run a fogger through the system. That will allow you to see where the leak is coming from. Better than going through the 3 hours of removing the canister and the many more hours searching by eye for invisible leaks. Any mechanic should have a fogger machine to run it for you.

to save you $500+ on a charcoal canister, try to remove the solenoid and clean it off. MOST of the time thats the problem (if concluded that thats the problem).

any other options? You cant spot a crack in a hose with your eye $85 is priceless compared to any other options... (guess I'm lucky to have mechanic friends )

If you guys read it again. The code is for a "Vent Control Malfunction" not a leak problem.

Check that Vent hose to see if it's clogged. Then report back.
