Pro's and Cons - GS300/400 - Help!!
I have looked everywhere for both cars and it is so difficult to find one. I am finding it a bit easier to get a GS300 and as a result. I am finding it a bit hard to settle for that car for the smaller engine. Granted I am now thinking should I spend that cash on the fuel or save some money and just get the I6 and boost it at a later date.
I found a great silver/grey 2001 GS300 that I think I shouldn't let pass up at all. I need the advice of you folks on both sides of the fench. Best Regards |
If you are planning to do a turbo set up then get the 300. If you want a car that already makes pretty good power, then get the 400/430. The gas mileage is close to the same. GL

the gs300 is an inline 6 not a v6!

yeah, I know and my apologies for mixing it up. If I can find a good kit to boost with then I'll do it.

Get a 400 or 430 b/c it's easy power. Expand your search area and define how old / how expensive you're willing to go
Then be patient |

My 2 cents:
from someone that searched and searched for a 2GS for months before my purchase. I was stoked to find a soooper clean GS300 but sometimes i wish i had held out for a 400 or better yet a 430.. The main factor was the price difference (about $2500-$4000+). But to be honest i have always loved the lines and styling of the 2GS so i t really didn't matter which power plant i got i just wanted one BAD.. I am satisfied with my purchase but sometimes want more power without having to mod the engine(which i hate doing cause it's my DD) so i drool over 400's and larger 2GS's.. Guess this didn't help much but as long as you get a car that's clean, well maintained and you are happy with that's all that matters. Sheeesh my mom just bought a 2010 Accord last weekend (4 cylinder no less:egads:) and i am mad becasue she went out without me and purchased it. She loves it and is stoked but i have a firm hatred for HONDAS so we won't be talking for a few months. J/K.. I tried to get her into a LS but the recent TOYOTA bad press scared her off.. Dammit Akio Toyoda you scared off another future owner!!! You cheap bassterd:mad: Anyways good luck with the hunt and keep us posted.. |
To be honest i love my gs300 A LOT! but i do wish i bought a 430. if you can save up your $$ and get a bigger engine.

These links are a little dated, but still apply. There are many more threads (including more recent); suggest you please try the search feature and you'll find a lot of the stuff you're asking (or may want to ask), no waiting. For example, I searched for the question "Should I get a GS400 or GS430?" using "gs400 gs430 difference" as keywords and found the following threads among others.

Thanks for being a good human and great MOD.. I will be reading those links for days now.. I wanna upgrade to a 400 now BTW :p |
love my GS400... i think many guys around here get the 300 saying one day they will boost and many do but most dont.. save yourself the trouble and get a 4++ and you will be happy with the power for a DD. The I6 is to small for the body size. How about you go into it saying you going to boost a GS4++.... that would be EVEN BETTER...dont you think??

400 or 430 is my vote.
