Trunk lock actuator ground w/ CB trunk
I wanted to share what I did to get the function of the trunk latch actuator working again after installing a Seibon carbon fiber trunk in case anyone does this and finds that it wont work (Same for a fiberglass trunk I'm sure). I was only able to physically open it with the key. I found that it didn't have ground through the carbon fiber. Obvious now. I had power and ground going to it when a helper pulled the trunk release lever from inside. I was about to order a new actuator but I was thinking it was to coincidental that it suddenly didn't work after the install. Sometimes this sort of thing happens after something gets disturbed. But in this case I tried running a ground from the latch body to the frame and it worked! So here are a few pics of where you want add ground to make it work. The latch body normally grounds through the metal trunk. So you can see the yellow eyelets I used to go from the actuator to the nearest chassis ground point.

As soon as I read the title, I died inside: In hindsight it's so bleedingly obvious, but neither I or my body guy had figured it out, and I thought my actuator was just dead like all the ones in the doors.
Well, thanks for solving the trunk issue I'd given up on.

Exactly why I scratched my head for a second before giving up and ordering a new lock actuator after I had found power and ground through the wiring. Looking back I don't know why I didn't just hit it with a power-probe to check it's function. That would have told me the same thing and a little quicker.
