New GS mod from APEXI - fuel ECU
For the never ending search for mods, I came across this one for the GS. Not sure if many people have this, but for $330 its a pretty inexpensive mod.
It's called APEXi Super AFC S-AFC
Here is the description:
The digital APEXi S-AFC is a piggy-back fuel computer, which attaches to most any car. It is used to modify the factory computer signal in order to make adjustments for air/fuel ratios via enhancements through fuel adjustments.
The second-generation S-AFC is a fuel computer that adjusts fuel/air ratio by modifying the air-flow meter/MAP sensor signal. The S-AFC features a user-definable, eight-point, adjustable fuel curve that can be set in 500 RPM increments. The range of fuel adjustment is +/- 50% at each of the user-defined setting points. On hot-wire vehicles, the Deceleration Air Flow Correction function is capable of curing the erratic idle and stall problems associated with open-atmosphere blow-off valves on hot-wire air-flow meter systems. The S-AFC is capable of monitoring and replaying the following data channels in Numerical, Analog Meter and Graph displays: Intake Manifold Vacuum/Boost Pressure, Air Flow Capacity, Intake Manifold Pressure, Karmann Frequency, Engine RPM, Throttle Position, and Air Flow Correction %.
We have ECU install and hook up guides for 1993-1998 Supra Twin Turbo's, New Celica's, Lexus IS300 and GS400. The S-AFC is not car specific so it work's on most any vehicle made. Optimal tuning is achieved on a dyno

S-AFC works on all models.
Sasha doesn't have S-AFC on his car, yet.
$330 is steep. The market price for this is $305 shipped. I've seen it drop to $295 shipped. If you don't mind an used unit, you can easily get it for around $200.
Like other said, it's not new. I think the 1st gen of S-AFC came before 2nd gen GS was introduced in U.S.

i had it once
I use to have the AFC and AVC-R in my 99 Eclipse GSX. Here are some pics of it installed in my pass airbag. Might as well attach some pics of the whole car while I'm at it.

thanx guys
thanx steve and lexusrules,
Steve: my quest is well under way. Hopefully, 2 years from today, I'll be on the Club Ferrari website. (If they have one).
LexusRules: Thanx man, but I don't own the Eclipse anymore. I sold that and decided to go with the GS. I thought I needed to grow up. But, dang it was hella fun to drive. thing was hitting high 12"s low 13's.
