I would re-package everything inside, take pictures, print out the shipping log from the site, and visit UPS' location close to you. Not a UPS store, but the actual hub. They are open to the public because many items cannot simply be left at a door step. Show them that the damage is in line with the way the box is damaged, show them the log with the timestamps on delivery. This proves that it wasn't installed and in an accident that conveniently damaged it the same way the box would have. Since you've already filed the claim, this saves them from having to get in touch with you and schedule time. Having dealt with claims through both USPS and UPS, getting your paperwork and evidence in line is your best bet. Good luck and keep us posted, mang!

You make some good points there. Yes, I think my roommate should not have signed and rather should have pre-inspected the package before actually signing for it, but that is too late now.

I checked the status on my damage claim and the "inspection" was waived and completed. Does this mean I might have a good chance that they will reimburse me? Or do you think that probability will still remain low despite the fact they have forgone my "evidence" or "proof of damage" as a result of UPS mishandling the package?

I mean, my claim isn't for a big sum to try and recuperate, but it's a matter of principle for me.

Definitely hope you get it. Yes, I agree with you about the principle, must be done.

That's FN terrible! I would be wild! Saving your scripts to buy an expensive grill and it arrives damaged isn't right.

It's definitely going to be fine. Especially for lower priced items that are insured.

Any idea on how long it takes the average claim to be processed? I think someone mentioned in this thread that it took him 6 months?!

this is what UPS will probably tell you, since the box "looked" open upon arrival and you're roommate did not throughly inspect that box before signing for it, then its your loss and you wont get anything. Sorry

Well, I didn't state in my claim that it looked open, so hopefully this will help my case.
