low profile Jack for lowered cars

I've been struggling working with my lowered car. It's a pain in the butt to do anything, especially trying to raise the car up.

I have a low profile jack but it's too short and does not go too far underneath the car.

I found something that is low and long to reach far underneath the car. It's about 2.5" tall too.

it's for 280 dollars. Anything else like that out there?

How high is this? is it long enough for the front bumper to clear before the wheel can get on it?

2x4...then raise it up? I've done that, too much trouble. Maybe I'll get something longer and wider and cover more area to drive onto it. Two pairs for each wheel would do it.. square shaped :) or maybe just for the two front wheels. hmmm... thanks, for the suggestion. Now, I'm thinking it doesn't have to be a 2x4 :)

you can cut the ends to a 60 degree angle and join them together. i did that for my slammed down VW when i was a teen and it worked great. Even put a raised piece of 2x2 at the end so you know your car is full on top like a small bumb stop kinda thingy for when nobody is there to spot you. 10 bucks tops..

I don't remember how high up they are but i think its close to 4 inches. Contact them and see if they can get you the specs.

Sam, I have that low profile jack. It works wonders when other jacks can't get the job done lol.

Yeah, looks very convenient.... reminding others to not forget to put up the jack stand.

2 x 12's work great. You can either bevel cut the end or just drive up on them. It is a bit easier if they're cut. Make sure you're safe, though, and put a couple of bolts in the floor so they can't spin out.

If you stagger them about 18 inches, you can give yourself 3" of lift once you're on them. Then you can get a conventional jack under it, put a couple stands under, and do whatever you need to do. Just remember to drive back off slowly. Flat concrete + flat board = spin spin spin. (don't ask me how I learned this from my friend who fired them into the bench...)

Wow. Really? That's cool. I was thinking of getting a low profile jack myself. $285 is too much, but the Costco one for $98 would be something I could afford.

^ its a good jack man, no probs whatsoever and im using it alot!

...look it up they go for about double anywhere else

Vincent123 07-03-10 06:24 PM

A friend of mine has the Arcan low profile jack that he got at Costco but when I went there they did not have it. I seen his and it looks like the real deal. I was thinking about settling with a type that Harbor Freight has but I'll wait it out some more until I see a deal on the Arcan one.

I believe this is the one he has:

^Yep I have that one and the newer red one.

I got both from Costco. The blue one is aluminum and weighs about 60lbs with 3 tons power while the red one is 100 lbs (steel) but can lift 3.5 tons. They are both fairly low profile and very maneuverable. For 95 bucks each, they are both GREAT deals. I don't know if they still carry the blue one but every time my costco gets the red one, they would sell out quickly, but they would get more. However they don't offer it on there website. (My guess is that shipping would be "crazy")

I would recommend them if there is a costco around you.

^^ I have a low profile jack too... but notice the length is the usual short jack. The pic I posted and what Jeff has is low and long. So you can push it far underneath the car. These are pretty useless to me. I'd rather get a normal jack with good lift height and drive my car over 2x12 (as suggested by member w/caution on how to do so:) BIG MACK).

I'll probably sticky a rubber mat under the wood or something to prevent it from flying out from under the wheel when u step on the gas.

Anthony 07-04-10 11:16 AM

i have the red one from costco and its balllller lol :P

flipicanez 07-04-10 12:24 PM

The long low profile or the usual low profile?

lunatyk 07-04-10 05:51 PM

Look to see if you have a harbor freight around your area. If you do they have low profile jacks that are fairly cheap.
