Default Xenon Out

I have a couple of questions... My right xenon went out last night, and I need to put another one in asap. Where is the best place to by one, and can I install it myself. Also do you think I should replace my left one as well?? Will one be brighter than the other if I don't??

First, did the bulb burn out or the ballast? If it's the bulb, I would replace both bulbs. One might be brighter than the other. As a matter of fact, I just saw a BMW last night and you can totally tell he had one of his xenon lights replaced because it was so much brighter than the otherside.

I think it may be just the bulb... I got a quote from my Lexus dealership and they said $375 per bulb, the part number is 90981-2001, made by toyota. This seems pricey, are there any other aftermarket ones?? I will probably just change both to keep them looking the same.

Default trade

take the good bulb and put it on the bad side, if it doesn't lite its the ballast or fuse, not the bulb.

For $375 per bulb, you can get a better quality aftermarket one for $300. I got my Phillip 6000K of D2R bulb for $300 per pair.

actually, you should take the bad bulb and put it in the good side and see if it lights up.... if it's the ballast that burns out the bad bulb, you don't wanna burn out your good one as well.

that's ridiculous. never get it from the dealer. get it from places like autolamps-online.com at most you should only spend 300 bucks per PAIR, and that's the price for philips 6000K already. for philips 4100K (the stock one) it should be only around 250 a pair at most.

I agree... Get the bulbs somewhere else. You might just want to upgrade your whole HID as well. For $600, you can get a really good 6000K HID unit.

Default You takes your chances

Or the bulb may be shorted which took out the ballast on that side and moving the bad bulb....

You can't win for losing.....

Okay... It seems that I should go ahead and purchase the 6000K D2R HID replacement lights as a pair for 300 bucks. This should be a simple swap right?? I also forgot to check and see if the lexus CPO warranty will cover this thing, if not oh well, thanks for the help..

umm........ i think you are still better off first check to see if it's the bulb or the ballast problem? i mean, if the ballast is bad and that's what burned your bulb, it will happen to you new 6000K bulbs as well!!

and if the ballast is defective, i think it *should* be covered under warranty?

Ballast should be covered...bulbs, I doubt it...they don't even cover "exterior trim" on the CPOs...so if your doorcaps fall off, tough...

I would do the bulb vs. ballast check also...if the ballast is bad and the bulb is bad, you MIGHT be able to get the CPO to cover it since you can argue that the bad ballast made the bulb go bad...it might work...

Good point, I will probably try that... I took my car to the dealership and they said that the ballast is covered under the warranty. BUT if the bulb is bad and I do not have them replace it with thier inventory, they said that they will charge me for the labor!! So I suggested that I'd bring in a pair of aftermarket bulbs for them to install, if that's the case..$125 for both. This is a problem because I will buy two 6000k's and I'm sure i'll find out that it was the ballast that was bad and they will fix this for no charge... So I find myself in a rock and a hard place here. I remember right before the HID blew it started flashing really quickly and then it went out. Do any of you think this was a ballast going out or the bulb blowing out?? If you all think it was the bulb going I will order the 6000s and put them in myself...
