No way you'll get it for $21K (unless you are a dealer and get into a dealers' auction or know someone who is a dealer). There's a used '99 GS3 in my area with around 50K miles and it's going for $29K. If you can, get a '99 or later. In '99 they made some changes to the structure of the car which makes it safer in crashes. Not sure what the changes were though. Good luck with your search.

EDIT: I, of course, drive a '90 ES250. I'm 17 and listed as a secondary driver on both the ES250 and our new GS3. I have a perfect record. My rate is $1200/year. Expect your rate to be higher, especially if you are listed as primary.

My mom only pays $800/year on the GS3 and she is the primary driver.

Right, a '98 or '99 GS300 with around 50,000 miles will retail for $27-$29k depending on condition, paintwork, history, options, etc...

You can get a 98 gs300 with around 90k or more for a around your 21k. I was quoted to pay around 2300 for a 99gs4 for insurance under my name and I'm 18.

good luck

Carfax only guarantees the title, they Do not Guarantee the cars acciddent history. Carfax is only correct about 50% of the time when it comes to a cars accident history. This is a private party sale right. If the car is crap you will have no legal recourse if it has problems. But the way to avoid buying a crappy car is just make sure you have the car inspected first. The price is a little low even for a private party sale(should be at least $23k), so make sure you are not buying a car that is going to need $2,000-$3,000 in work done to it(i.e. new brakes, new tires, fuel/air filter, etc...). Also if you want your insurance to be even cheaper get insurance under a very cheap car(=cheaper insurance). Get the kind of coverage that allows you to be fully insured for any vehicle you drive in the world and then just drive the GS and you will be covered. I am insured under a Camry & am fully covered to drive any vehicle. If you can't do that then just stick with your plan, the next best way to go.

Brendan you paid what you should have for the car, considering it had 1 years worth(15,000 miles) of excessive miles on it. A CLEAN '99 GS300 with Average miles(40-45,000) will usually retail for at least $28k.

Drew,

I drive down I-35 everyday to work and have noticed 3 used GS's sitting in the front row at Superior Acura near 75th. 2 of them are black and the other one is gold (not sure on GS300 vs. GS400/430). 2 of them have been sitting there for a while. Maybe stop and see what kind of deal you can get.

I would get that black one since it has a lot lower milage and cheaper than the green one and you can always upgrade the stereo. By the way where are you located because I would like to look at the black one
