Default Insurance taillights issue help!

Hello,

I recently got a set and it and when i installed it. I think it blew my brakes fuse. I put back my OEMs and its still the same.

My light would turn on, but when i press my brakes... It won't go off. Could it be the resistors that comes with it and is over loading my modular.

My lights have three plugs; one to the main tail-lamp socket and the other two to the resistors. So, does the LEDs have too much power for the main socket?

Anyone else with Insurance taillights having this problem?

Sounds like you got a short on the power side. I wouldn't recommend using a higher fuse because you might burn the wiring. You would need to track where that short is coming from. GL

When you press on the brakes, it won't go off? That's because you're pressing on it?

I don't think you should use a higher fuse, you'll burn your wiring up that way for sure. There's this little button behind your brake peddle, see if it comes back out when you let go of the brakes. Check all your taillight fuse.

I have a similar issue. When I push the brakes the indicator light would come on and would go off once I release it. It works fine but I hope I dont short out anything. But its very rare that the indicator light come on so I ignored it.

I just got mine and it worked fine for a few days. My fuse blew, so I replaced it and worked fine. Then the parking lights would not come on, but when I stepped on the brakes, it worked. I couldnt drive it at night cuz parking lights wouldnt come on. It also messed up my the sensor? (small black box inside left trunk handle) Maybe we need to swap the resistors?

Dont let a couple complaints stop you from buying them. its a quality light, better than the ebay crap thats out there! I've had mine for 2 years and have had NO problems with them.

Chris4.3 - i think i might have seen your car pulling out near my work every morning. Off el camino. I work at the office buildings right behind baby r us.

i've seen a black GS with insurance taillights. i always wonder who could that be.

Anyways,
what i did was... just took off the resistors box... And it worked perfect since. no problems.

After that, i rigged the some wiring so i won't be able to see the taillight out.

And yes! these taillights are amazing. the quality of it is top notch. not cheap at all.

I just dont want to have to deal with any dash light what so ever...the way I see it is...if they dont work just as the stocks do then, I'll be happy with my stock tail lights. But we shall see.
