fairly certain JP used to offer some LED tails....

i know or think i know that JP had 2 options for their tails...one with LED and one WITHOUT

When LED tail lights for our car first came out, Sonar was one of the first to make them. JP sold their in-house laser-cut red/clear tail lights and also sold the Sonars through their company. Of course the Sonar tail lights they sold were cheaper because they were merely reselling them and not manufacturing or customizing them in-house like the non-LED version. I remember this because I almost purchased Sonars from JP but ended purchasing them for half the price on Ebay.

i just got those outers and the resistors get ****ing hot, where did you guys mount them. im afraid they will melt the wires or plastic or even worse start a fire..im serious, its ****ing hot.

 

I recommend getting the ceramic load resistors they are enclosed in ceramic and all the heat stays inside, they get a tad bit warm at best:

as for mounting them, if you have these (which I have up front, I have ceramics out back):



I riveted them to the body itself.

The ceramics, imo, are less of a hassle.

 

i see.. thanks for replying. well i dont want to keep spending on these lights. Question; do you think mounting them in the back to the light housing using some kind of spacer (plastic or ceramic) as a spacer will work?

I dont want to say one way or the other because I wouldnt want to be liable. First thought though is that in time they're just gonna melt through. I personally dont like the idea.

what did everyone else do with there resistors??? does anyone else with this tail have the same issue??

 

The resistors does get hot, but not to a point where it will damage anything...

As for a person that just got a set of Insurance taillights. The quality of it is a lot better. It's like OEM basically. Housing and lense. Not like these LED's one. I had a set before and they do work great, but The tabs on it cause easily break and the LEDs burns out fast... I repaired a set in the past, but it's not worth my time ever again to do it.
So becareful.

they do get hot. it will melt any wire it touches. the plastic may hold up a bit but overtime may deform due to constant heat. the vendor tell you to mount them on the metal to the car, but i dont feel like drilling anything to my chassis.

i used heat resistant sealant and spacers and mounted them to the lights themselves, like the picture above.
