Default Problems turning on car

Any one having problem turning on their car in the cold, im in NY. For the past days, the car doesn't do anything when i turn the key, after the 2 or third attempt, finally car turns on, all that comes about is the lights lighting up in the dashboard and nothing else. Yesterday i replaced the battery and it's still doing the same, i know it's not the alternator, alternator was replaced last summer which is still under warranty through Lexus. I went to R and Strauss and the guys there diagnosed the battery as being bad. Also when trying to turn on the car, the car did not click.. Any help is appreciated.

Regards,

Rob

I'm having the same problem also. I noticed that the battery terminals were loose, so I added a shim and retightened. That helped... but, I'm thinking that we're running into a faulty fuel pump.

Started having this problem a few months ago too when I noticed the car would not turn on immediately when key was turned to crank the motor. I would have to turn the key with a tiny bit more pressure to get the car to crank.

About 2 months ago on day, the car would not start in the morning at all. Everything would turn on (dash lights, radio, AC, etc) but the ignition would not crank. I left the car at home and when I returned about 2 hours later it started right up with no signs of any issue.

This morning, the same thing happened again which is why I'm posting on here today to see if anyone else was having this issue. Well I found this thread and need to know what can be the root cause of this issue. Is it a problem with the contacts on the ignition switch where the key is inserted, is it a low battery on the remote which may be causing an issue with the transponder chip (or whatever the chip in the key is called that lets the ignition crank when key is inserted)or something else?

I know it's not a low battery as I have an Optima Yellow Top that's about 3 years old and checked out good during last oil change a few months ago. I'm ruling that out for now, but will have it tested regardless later today.

No click noise and all the electrical accessories are working... Starter is the first thing that comes to mind... And if lexus replaced your alternator, why is your battery going bad??? (nevermind, could have been your battery was weak from the old alternator)

Batteries are sometimes a band aid for a faulty starter because the added power from a brand new battery will compensate for the the worn brushes in the starter.

How many miles on the vehicle, GS3 or GS4???
