Default 98 gs400 doa - help!

For the past week I've noticed the power on my NAV screen flickering off and on randomly. I haven't had time to take it in and thought it was just because it was so cold out. Today I went to start my car and it was completely DOA. I tried jumping it with no luck, nothing happened. I got a new battery because I was meaning to do that anyway, still nothing, no power, no noise at all. NOTHING happens when I turn the key, no lights, etc... I also can't get into my trunk, the trunk release to the left of the steering wheel doesn't work weather the lock in in the lock or unlock position, is there an override button somewhere that I'm missing? Has anyone else had this problem with the power? Any suggestions? I've been told it could be the alternator or the ignition switch? Please help!!!

Check the ground and positive cables. Also get a volt meter and make sure you have 12volts at the battery. I've bought quite a few "new" batteries, only to find out there were dead upon install.

first...check the connections...clean away any corrosion at the battery terminals.

normally...a new battery should give you power to the headlights...even if the car wont start. if everything is dead....then its the battery.... its doa too.

another reason for a bad battery is because the alternator is dead....then all power is drawn from the battery.

if the battery is strong...and there is headlights...but the car won't start...or don't turn over....then it maybe the starter.

good luck.
