Usually cheap gas is the culprit. I recommend using only premium fuel. Also, get a BG induction flush...that should clear out a lot of the carbon build up in your intake system.
IF, its the filter its CAUSE THEY over-oiled it not cause of the filter. cant help that you, (OCH) cant read and follow directions on how oil a airfilter. i have run my k&n on my gs430 for over 2 years NO PROBLEMS, NO ISSUES, NO CELS, NOTHING.

I only had my K&N filter for a year, I never oiled it. Just because you don't have issues doesn't mean it can't cause issues. I suggest you inspect your MAF, you will see buildup on it.

well, directions state u should oil it so maybe you shoulda. i have checked and rechecked my MAF no oil residue.
i've always used 91 gas. regardless if i use shell, 76, or chevron, i still get the occasional pinging. i clean my maf out twice a year, and make sure the k&n is not over oiled too. maybe i will try an oem filter and see what happens.
