excuse the thread resurrection but if the ones bashing and claiming its "ricey" or "honda only" allow me to kindly say you lacks serious automotive knowledge. every production car has oem tow hooks. this is very straight foward and its for towing and/or pulling purposes. every time i would tow my car i need to remove the front bumper since its so low, this becomes a hassle and its very inconvenient. and aftermarket tow brings the product outward and foward for better clearance and avoids damage to the bumper. yes, its mostly an aesthetic mod for some, but for those like myself, it serves a functioning purpose.

Actually most of the OEM hooks are for tie down only. They are to save the suspension parts from being bent during transport.

i think it's whether the people putting them on are actually going to use it, or if it really is just for show...

i rarely leave a negative comment about something, but to this "tow hook" on a lexus..seriously, honda owners has taken over. The "ricey" isn't a negative comment, its quite neutral because its a fact. You cant just hate on everyone who calls your car "ricey" just because it is? Whatever though, and I agree with speedaddic, Use the OEM one, its there for a "purpose" and the aftermarket are just for looks, ricey looks.

umm "dude"... did i mention benen??
i believe you're mentioning benen. its all subjective, like using vht spray to paint tailights. imo, ricey as hell, strictly for looks, yet serves no purpose. do hondas black out their tailights? sure they do. will i? no i won't. are 2gs with cf hoods and trunks honda wannabes?? no they aren't. aftermarket tow hooks in my case is a useful upgrade over oem, specially in the front since my bumper is about2 inches off the ground.

about lacking automotive knowledge....

exactly why in MY case i'd be better with a hook that offers more then just tie down support.

like being towed back to the padocks after you blew a tire and slide off the track drifting.

mr. automovive...gee im flattered **really hitting the like button this time**
...but perhaps there's no need to attempt any further convincing of opinion on your end since my old t51r sc300 is indeed a track car...well look at that...

furthermore, and like previously said, i'd encourage reading comprehension lol. sir...umm, never did i say i need a took hook, just like i never said anything about a benen hook (few post back). and just about the only thing you've said correctly is "if you have a track car that needs to get towed...power to you"

oh and, thanks for the mr.automotive title
