You have to take the lining off from under the trunk lid. You will then gain access to these lights.

get a Cable Tie/Zip tie, 'medium' sort of size. It will fit perfectly thru the slots on the boot trim clips. Pull them out, you can then remove the trim.

you can then see where the bulb plugs are. they are held in by a twist and lock method, so you will need to twist them to unlock (as per usual with lots of bulb connectors) and the connecter and plug will come out.

you then pull the bulb itself out of its slot, and replace it with the warden bulb. The warden LEDs do have positive and negative polarity, so check the bulb is working before putting it all back together! what i mean by polarity is, it needs to be the right way round so if it doesnt work one way turn it aroudn and try the other.

thats it.

Ok so here is the CCFL License Plate Light Conversion DIY:

Remove the trunk lid liner by pulling off the 14 push in retainers and the two screws the secure the lid pull. You will also need to remove the emergency trunk release trim ring.

Just put mine in last night in the pitch black. You don't need to remove all the clips. You can get to it by just popping out of the bottom ones.

Which bottoms?

In the pic from Debonair (good job, BTW on that, mang:thumbup:) the ones North of the handle. I removed all 4, but you could probably do just the three to the right of the handle. It's a tight squeeze, but I didn't undo the handle at all. Got the scrapes and cuts to prove it!

Haha - When I installed LED license plate lights I did that and scraped up my hands and arms a bunch too. I kicked myself for being lazy after.

When I went back in and did my CCFL license plate lights and Dynamat I pulled the whole thing down.

Fairly straight forward job... That interior trunk handle is a pain though.. I unclipped the bulb harness for easier access.

thats so much easier... these clips are everywhere this whole time i've been using a small flat head which can be irritating... zip ties are clearly the easier way

WIZARD1325 09-24-11 07:31 AM

I don't understand? What are the Zip ties for? When I unhook the plate wire harnest feels like the housing is glued on....If I was to force it out how do I get the housing back in place? Do I need to re glue it?
