Wow, I just looked and the whole dash needs to be removed.

I would try to back flush the valve. Whats wrong with the valve?

If one of the sensors incorporated into the expansion valve isn't working, backflushing it isn't going to accomplish anything. No offense to Frank....

ok, now I have to ask, what is an expansion valve, where is it and what does it do?

And don't tell me it's like the flux capacitor, because I'm not that gullible. OR am I?

Expansion Valve

A variable metering device that varies refrigerant flow based on cooling demand. As demand increases, the valve opens wider to permit more refrigerant into the evaporator. Once the demand has been satisfied, the valve opening is reduced to decrease flow. Cooling demand is monitored by a sensing bulb mounted on or near the evaporator.

Although there are a variety of A/C systems used in cars and light trucks, they are all generally classified according to the type of metering device they use. Consequently, an A/C system is either referred to as an orifice tube system or an expansion valve system.

copied it from here...

since im in the HVAC-R trade im familiar with most of the tricks/tips associated with doing heating/air but this should be a decent guide to the a/c uneducated (not sure how to word that)
