18s can look awesome if car is low and the rims have aggressive widths and offsets. if you look in the Japanese VIP mags there are LS's and things running 18s and they look awesome, but theyre usually like 10"+ all round and aggressive offsets so they have a lot of lip. i could scan some pics to show you guys but yeah you really have to do some research and be dedicated to run hardcore 18s on a big car
Just curious why it takes dedication to run a good fitment and achieve a nice stance?

Width doesn't have to be 10"+... though it would look a bit wack with less than a 9" rear - really just the right offset/tire size. I got some of those mags you're talking about. All you really have to do is just do some math and you'll know what your fitment should be.

i dont think cali roads are teh best..i havent really been anywhere else with my car..but cali roads have some smooth areas..but LOTS of potholes that have been around for years unfixed..i would like to try other states roads..ive only driven in cali and vegas..both are ****tty IMO

Man anywhere it snows blows for roads... all kinds of raising areas/cracks/holes/BS on the roads - I'm glad I drive rentals when I'm in the midwest/eastcoast for work!!!
Cali/Vegas have damn near perfect roads in comparison... NO QUESTION!!!

That's one of the main reasons I'm not running real aggressive offsets with stretched tires, you gotta be careful up here, I can't afford to be bending wheels every week!
The way I see it, everyone likes to complain about the roads wherever they're at, I haven't driven outside of MN, WI, and Chicago so I can't say they are worse than anywhere else but the cold/hot cycles take their toll for sure. We all like to think we got it bad!

CleanS14 - on a big body car, i believe that width needs to be at the very very least 9" up front, but from the mags ive read most of them running 18s have around 18x10 or so up front, and anywhere from 18x10 to 18x12 up back.
Imo it takes dedication because in order to make a 'small' 18 look big and aggressive on a GS, LS, Majesta etc you need to be running a lot of width and aggressive offset in order to acheive an overall large and chunky appearance too the wheel despite its overall smaller diameter. Also, since you now have a lot of width and offset, most of those guys then run a lot of stretch to accentuate the width and provide clearance.
On top of that, to then get your gaurds to be completely full with tight fitment on a stretched 18" setup you're going to have to be sitting pretty damn low to the ground.
Hence why i say dedication is necessary. I really dont think you can run 18x8 18x9 with minor stretch and think theyre going to look right on a big body car cause i dont think they will. they need to be wide, deep and aggressive and the car has to be totally over them to make them look in proportion.
ill throw some pics later tho none are of GS's.
And getting VIP fitment and stance takes dedication because you;re going to be running a lot of camber, a lot of stretch (risk of rim damage etc), and very low (risk of defects, damage to car etc). I think 18s make it even more vital to get the fitment and stance dead right so i think they take more dedication.. *shrug*
