Default Getting closer to the day

Checked out this Black/tan 98 GS400 today from a private party. It has the NAV, 17 chromes, spoiler, 53Kmi, newer tires, with transferrable mechanical breakdown ext. warranty to 80Kmi or 3 years.

Very clean car in and out. No dings. Asking $31K. After some haggling, got it down to $29.5K.

What I don't understand is Kelly's Blue Book Internet says "Trade-in" is $26,325. Then, the bank's Kelly's says Wholesale is $28,650. Edmund's says TMV is $26,928.

Question: Is $29.5K a fair price?

Need your answer quick so I can decide.

Thanks.

for 98s, i would say ~$28500-29000 is more attractive....though i have not seen the car.....i had, however, saw lex dealer selling Certified one for $29500 and ~40-40k miles....though not sure if those had navs....

good luck

KBB is GARBAGE (IMHO). I always thought they get paid by the dealers. A lot of people go there, so if they can get you to believe your car is only worth 10K, you'll trade it in for that much or look for 2K over that. Their quoting is outrageous.........Like I said, my opinion.....

think 29.5K is a very good price and whats even more atractive is the fact that the car is still under warrenty. It all depends on the area you live in and how the market is there, for us here at Washington state its pretty spendy, A freind of mine just baught a 98 GS400 with 40k from a lexus dealers for $40k which was a total ripoff, he would think its a good deal since the lexus dealers here mark up there prices like crazy ( almost $60k for a new GS430 fully optioned)
