Default I knew lexus parts were expensive.....but

I have a 99 GS400. I accidentally broke a power window switch on the drivers master switch yesterday, and I got the shock of my life when I called to get a replacement. this switch controls the left rear window.

I KNOW it is the master switch that controls all 4 windows, but $430.00 at the dealers? They really ARE "stealers" now

I can't believe that switch is so expensive. Has anyone else had to replace this switch? There has to be something cheaper than that.
HOLY COW! I love Lexus like anyone else, but this is ridiculous.

I can still get the window to go up and down, but I'd rather have the switch work properly. It is the "sandstone" or tan colored switch that matches my tan interior.

Thanks!

Try Aliga from this forum. He usually has a bunch of little things like this laying around.

Thanks to all for the tip. I did not know that EBAY had used Lexus parts. I'll check it out.

well you gotta realize something. The driver's door panel only comes with all 4 switches, plus all the wiring and relays. Add to that 4 automatic raise/lower modules, plus labor to rip apart the door and put everything back together, and 430 bucks (4 hrs at 100/hr, 30 for parts) doesn't seem too farfetched.

I think he may mean just for the part alone.... If that's the case, $430 is a lot of money!

MSRP is $440, you can get it from Carson Toyota's online OEM parts system for $343.30, I know it's still not cheap but it will save you about $100 or so. Keep in mind this is for a brand new part gauranteed to work, not a junkyard pull.

What color is your interior? Here are part numbers for the more common colors:
Black 84040-30190-C0
Tan 84040-30190-E0
Grey 84040-30190-B0

Description Year MSRP Price Your Price
Black Left 98-05 $440.44 $304.51

I found it for $304.51 from Lexus Pembroke Pines... - Dennis at Internet Parts..

I'd try to get a quote for used... but i would consider getting new... because you do not know if the used one has been weathered... or exposed to elements..

Every single time when you, or at least I call or go to the parts department. If you call the service department than I guess labor would be expected since you go through the service department if you want the dealership to do the work.

New Lexus parts are expensive just like new a Lexus car. You can probably find it used somewhere for cheap. Aliga parts out cars on here so he might have an extra one laying around.

I have been looking for one for a few months now, and on ebay they are usually in black. And the dealer is crazy expensive, I will have to hit up Aliga also to see if he has one.
Also keep an eye out in the classifieds section

If you know someone that works at the stealership or shop around is the best way. Those parts aren't cheap and definitely can not get just replace the inside portion of it either..Give Carson Toyota or Sewell a call....I'm sure you can get it cheaper with discount..
