Default Fatter tires or go lower?

So i have the tanabe df210's with 20x8.5 wheel with a 255/35 front tire and 20x10 wheel and 255/35 rear tires (do not know offsets but the wheels are TSW Kylami (?)). Now hear is my delema: I want to lower, or do i get a 275/30 rear tire? My front wheel/tire combo sits almost perfect and i am looking to fill the gap in the rear, i have NO rubbing issues at all and would like to keep it that way. I am thinking about getting a rear RCA, seeing if there is going to be any rubbing and them get a wider tire and moidfy the fender. Please someone with some advice or with this same setup could chime in. What plan of action do i take. Oh and i am on a budget, So it would pretty much haft to be tires or RCA, for a while. Thanks guys

If that's the case, go RCA first. Then find out if you can go wider with fender mods. I don't know the setup but it'll look nice when wide.

i would go with the RCAs, that way you can also fix your camber... if they're the adjustable ones....

I don't fully understand what you are saying, sorry, but it's confusing.

You have 20's, 8.5 and 10 with the same tire all around 255/35/20, but you have fender gap in the rear, right?

I am shocked that you can pull off a 255 in the front, what's even more shocking is that you claim it sits almost perfect. Let me start by saying that I was tucking tire with DF's, so are you sure you have DF's? Now, as far as a 275/30, that's is a smaller diameter than a 255/35, so you will have even a bigger gap. If you go with RCA's in the rear only, you are going to be lower in the rear than the front, so I guess now you have even a bigger dilemma than what you anticipated. Buy coilovers.

Nope not tucking, but it sits with no gap in the front and about a finger gap in the rear. I actually measured and i am 26" from top of fender front and 27" rear. and as far as the tire goes the side wall is a ratio of the tread/contact patch. so since it is larger then the side wall is also going to be higher, that is why i am going to drop to 30 series. right tire pros? i could use some expert opinion. ps how did you tuck on df's? what rim size do you have. i will try to post pics up soon.

255/35/20 = 27"
275/30/20 = 26.5"

No pro here, but I can atleast tell you that a 255/35 is taller than a 275/30.

I had 20's, 245/35/20 and 255/35/20 on falken 451. The minute I change tires to Nitto, I could no longer fit the 245, due to the shape of tire, it rubbed on the liner. That is why I question you having DF's with a 255, it just doesen't sound right.

For me DF's were a perfect drop, tucking the front a bit.

I doubt you can tuck 19's with df's unless you do a little cut cut..
Im guessing he had 20's

Edited: Nevermind beat me to it..

Your tire side wall formula is correct BUT 35% of 255mm is still more then 30% of 275mm so GS FONZy is correct that you will end up with more gap.

Here's a pic of a member with DF's and 20's I'm not sure if the tires are 235 or 245/35/20 front and 275/30/20 rear.

To me, that's a nice drop, looks good and clean. It does not show any gaps like you claim even though you are using a bigger tire all around.
