Please help 2001 Gs300 shutting off!!!
Hi guys,
Sorry if i have posted this in the write section. Anyways I have a excellent condition 2001 gs300 with a stock motor 142,000 miles. I was at the light today and the car would not move, at first I thought it was a timing belt considering I have never changed it (I know I'm an idiot). However it was still idling. The check engine light and VSC lights both came on. I pushed the car into a lot and sat there for about 10 minutes then the car drove fine afterwards, but all three dash lights were still on. I took the battery terminal off for a couple hours dash lights went off car drove fine for about a couple hours this time the car shut off and when I tried starting it was idling so low it would keep shutting off. So I ended up driving the car home (with no malfunction lights). But now Im scared to drive it? and if I can't get to work I'm fired so I need the cheapest way out of this mess. Please Help!!!

I just had the same problem and found out it was some sort of solenoid under the hood in the front right side of the car. I can take a picture of the part for you as it is still shiny new. I am actually getting ready to sell the car. So let me know.

I am having the same problem with my 2001 Lexus gs300 when I start the car lights on the dash are on and when I turn the head lights on the engine appears to have a loss of power and the dash light go out. I then turn the engine off and re-start the car. Sometimes the dash lights come on and at times the dash lights are out. The solenoid you are referring is it attached to the starter? Can you take a picture and please send it. You can send the picture to: just2x2@yahoo.com
