Default Wiper arm hitting hood

I have had this problem since i got the car. I've noticed that the wiper arms (the drivers side at least) make contact with the hood. This has led to the paint being worn off on the wiper arm as well as the hood where its making contact. Here are some pics to see what im talking about. Has this happened to anyone else? What could be going wrong here, can it be adjusted?

Exactly, I had the same problem. Once I tighten the bolt down the problem went away.

Yes...tighten the bolt....the reason its hitting the hood is because those wiper blades are not OEM...and sits high off the windshield.

Does it matter that there's rust on the wiper blade? I touched up the bare spot on the hood. I'm not sure what kind of black paint to use on the wiper arm.

My wiper hits the driver side A-pillar when they are on high, and it makes a horrible noise. Anyone have this problem? Maybe I should try to tighten the bolt on mine as well....

Installed new blades last week and mine did this also. I tried tightening it and still hit the hood when i had the wipers under the hood when off. Finally had the wipers exposed from under the hood and tightend the wiper, now works fine. Just don't have the sleath look of the blades tucked under the hood when off.

Yes. I just had this problem. Loosening the bolt, forcing the wiper arm down while the bolt was loosened, and then tightening the bolt fixed this for me.

I caused the problem for myself, in a sense. The bolt got loose on its own and I tightened it without setting the wiper arm to the lowest position, so when it was fully extended it slammed into the A pillar with remarkable intensity. In my own defense, it was a pretty bad rainstorm and I only had pliers on me to tighten the bolt with--and my hood won't open.

I have just had this problem again. After driving in the rain (possibly for the first time since the post above) for five minutes, the driver side wiper arm bolt got loose and needed to be tightened. I had to stop at some shop on the side of the road and ask for assistance. The passenger side is fine and tight.

Does anybody have any idea why only the driver side would keep getting loose? I don't know how these things happen. Any advice would be appreciated.

Could be a stripped bolt. Put some Loctite on it and see if that helps.
