Default How do i calibrate the compass in the mirror? Tried "search" function first ;-)

Searched "calibrate compass" but no luck. Mirror just has the one button for turning on/off the auto-dimming feature.
How do i get in calibration mode and set my zone (Chicago)? I appreciate any help!!

NOTE:when i plug in the mirror,i just get - -
(two dashes)

it's in the manual. it involves driving in a circle, so go to a mall parking lot or someplace empty. don't know which button to push to enable calibration, RTFM.

Appreciate the feedback but i should have stated that my
1999 GS did not come with a compass mirror so it's not in the manual. I believe only 2001+ came with it. I am installing one from an 01+ model year.

I just got it,must be too tired(RTFM...read the fu*$in manual,right?)
I read countless posts that can easily be answered by reading the manual, but like i stated, won't work in my case.

Got it! For some reason the "C" for calibrate was not showing up when the ignition was turned on,only the two dashes. After i played with it for a bit i did get the "C" to show up. I held the button for a few seconds and now the numbers 1-12 show up when i press the button. I just have to find my zone number and we're all good. Thanks again!!

Looks like zone 8 it is. She's all set and working perfectly!
I can scratch this one off the "to-do" list.

yea when i put mine in and it didnt work at first i was like wtf i took it apart and made sure i put every thing in right. but i asked around and i figured it out. there nothing worse then paying alot of money for nice stuff and it does not work. Also it looks a lot better it should b standard on all models.

so i know your not a active member anymore but maybe someone else can answer this? i see your old post showing the "zones" but it says its for a VW

this thread had the zones but the link is dead

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...-question.html

so does anyone have the "zones" for our cars? or the actual procedure to recalibrate the compass

https://www.clublexus.com/forums/gs-...pass-temp.html

my car didnt come with a compass mirror so its not in my owners manual on a reset and calibration. i have seen it mentioned about driving around in a circle and now holding a button down and i need to recalibrate it also as it seems to always have calibration issues but has anyone had this issue below? click on the video and watch the compass section (let me know if you cant view it, photobucket is being weird atm)

Well this is cool. Might look into getting a mirror with a compass and drive around in a circle for my 98 GS400 lol.
