Default Gauge cluster lights out?

Whats up everyone, names Sunny. Jay said to check out the forums here once I went Lexus.

Well, just picked up a '00 Platinum GS300. Just got her back today after the shop installed my Clifford Avantguard G5 770.

I have a few questions, they got the alarm in, no problem; but now the gauge cluster lights wont come on, nor will the AC display. The tilt wheel feature isnt working either (when you take the key out, the steering wheel should drop back and tilt up)

Anyone have any ideas on what they might have done wrong? I know they said they had to bypass something, I cant remember what it was. But now I cant drive it at night and I cant take the car back to them until Monday since they're close tomorrow...

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
Sunny

I thought about checking that, but this morning when I got in the car, the gauge cluster came on and I had ac display, but when you go to turn the headlights on, the gauge goes pitch black.

Sorry, I posted this hella late yesterday night. To be more detailed about the problem, the gauges cluster lights come on as usual for the day time when the headlight switch is either "off" or in "auto". The cluster goes pitch black when the headlights are either manually turned on or when they are turned on in "auto" setting. I'm pretty sure the ac display does not light up when I turn on the head lights.

Thanks!
Sunny

There's dial to the left(where's your left vent) that controls brightness of gauges, turn that to brighten up cluster.

LOL of all the things that completely went over my head when I started to look around, checking the brightness went right over my head. I didnt think they would mess with that, but it kinda connects since they had to take the dash out. This gives me a huge sigh of relief! LOL

Thanks again for all the help! It feels great to be apart of a forum that has a lot of helpful members!

Thanks Pingu! Jay's been egging me to buy a Lexus for years, then he found the opportune moment and bought my 240 before I could change my mind and said my only option at that point was to go and buy a Lexus... I shoulda listened to him from the start LOL

I love my GS, I just wish it wasnt so bouncy... not to mention the large amount of body roll it has.

Haha. I would definitely look into a set of coil over suspension to get rid of the floaty boat bounce. There are a lot of suspension pieces to help stiffen up the body and reduce the body roll.

Maybe you can get Jay to install it for ya.

Yeah, he said he's got something in mind for the suspension. Also seeing if he can hook me up with steering rack bushings and maybe rod ends etc. Steerings a bit sloppy... ok, its pretty sloppy. I have to constantly do slight counter steers to keep it in line on almost every turn and slight curve.

Cars, they are proven to be one thing... Money pits. LOL

I'm sure the steering will be better once you get coils on and an alignment.
