im doing this right now to my 99 gs400....we'll see how it goes. i have a gas stove....my meter is between warm and 200...i put my timer on 12 mins....let you guys know.

ok i stopped doing it. cuz it was starting to crackle. i left them in the oven for a half hr total....checked em 2x during that period. the glue wouldn't budge. so i just put them back on the car until i get LED tails for it....or some 01+ tails. i'll live

i am a very experienced show car builder and i had a terrible time doing this. i tried many heat settings, and many different times. one side turned out okay, and the other was bunk. i would say that this is not a sure way to mod and to exercise extreme caution.

I did this tonight, and I'd very much agree that patience is key. It took me maybe 2 hours total, and at least 1.5 hours was pulling the lights and checking the glue. I totalled 25 minutes per light at 190º. There are a few hairline cracks next to the black housing, but nothing that would be visible. Tomorrow I will silicone and reassemble. Do this in a quiet area--when you hear the first snap, move the screwdriver down the edge and try again.

just an update for parts for this
if your wanting to put in red bulbs (i suggest it it looks awesome) i picked up a set of LED bulbs from amazon.com with built in resistors and the whole nine yards for about 18 bucks shipped.

review of the bulbs - they look great very deep bright red in color not pink like many red bulbs, i do not get the 'hyper blink' which you usually get with led bulbs with these. their shipping was very fast ordered sunday they showed up on wednesday. i'm thinking about replacing all my rear end bulbs with these as now everything else looks slightly dull

i worried about that as well, today a buddy was following me, i asked him after how they looked. he said they looked great and clearly flashed red (this was noonish on a beautiful florida day)
cant wait 2 give it a go
